Calculate GPA Calculate Course Grades

Academic Calculator

Grading Scale: Standard (A = 4.0)

Semester 1

Course 1

Semester Credits: 3.0
Semester GPA: 0.00
๐Ÿ’ก Example: GPA Calculation

Let's say you're taking 3 courses this semester:

English 101: 3 credits, A (4.0)
Math 220: 4 credits, B+ (3.3)
Chemistry 110: 4 credits, B (3.0)

Enter these courses with their names, credits, and grades. Then click "Calculate GPA".

Semester GPA: 3.36 | Total Credits: 11.0

If you also had a prior GPA of 3.5 with 30 credits completed, your cumulative GPA would be 3.47.

Course Grade Calculator - Calculate Weighted Course Grades

Calculate Your Final Course Grade

Enter your graded assignments and their weights to calculate your current course grade.

Category Average: 85%
Category Average: 78%
๐Ÿ’ก Example: Course Grade Calculation

Let's say you're taking a Biology course with the following grade breakdown:

Assignments (30% of final grade):

Lab Report 1: 92%
Lab Report 2: 87%

Exams (70% of final grade):

Midterm: 78%

Enter these categories with their weights, and assignments with grades. Then click "Calculate Course Grade".

Current Course Grade: 82.2% | B- (2.7)

This calculation is weighted, so the Assignments average (89.5%) counts for 30% of your grade, and the Exams average (78%) counts for 70%.

Assignment Grade Impact Calculator - Predict Grade Changes

See how a future assignment will impact your final grade.

๐Ÿ’ก Example: Grade Impact Calculation

Let's say you want to know how an upcoming final project will affect your grade:

Current Grade: 82%
Course Completion: 70% (of total course)
Project Weight: 15% (of total course)
Expected Grade: 90% (on the project)

Enter these values and click "Calculate Impact".

New Course Grade: 83.8% | Change: +1.8%

This shows that doing well on this project will raise your overall course grade by 1.8 percentage points.

Final Exam Calculator - Calculate Required Grade

Calculate what grade you need on your final exam to achieve your desired course grade.

๐Ÿ’ก Example: Final Exam Calculator

You want to improve your grade from a C to a B- in the course:

Current Grade: 75% (before final)
Final Exam Weight: 30% (of total course)
Desired Grade: 80% (final course grade)

Enter these values and click "Calculate Required Grade".

Required Grade on Final Exam: 92%

In this scenario, you would need a 92% on the final exam to achieve an 80% (B-) in the course. This is challenging but achievable with proper preparation. Your current grade (75%) counts for 70% of your final grade, and the final exam counts for 30%. The calculation is: (75 ร— 0.7) + (92 ร— 0.3) = 80%.

Academic Planning Tools Suite

Select the planning tool you need:

Target GPA Calculator

Find out what GPA you need in your upcoming courses to reach your target cumulative GPA.

๐Ÿ’ก Example: Target GPA Planning

You want to improve your GPA over the next two semesters:

Current GPA: 3.2
Completed Credits: 30
Target GPA: 3.35
Future Credits: 30

Enter these values and click "Calculate Required GPA".

Required GPA for Future Courses: 3.50

This result shows that you would need a 3.5 GPA in your upcoming 30 credits (about two semesters) to reach your target GPA of 3.35. This is challenging but achievable with dedicated study and good time management.

Semester Load Planner

Plan your course load based on your GPA goals and study time availability.

๐Ÿ’ก Example: Course Load Planning

You're working part-time and want to know how many credits you can realistically handle:

Desired GPA: 3.7
Available Study Time: 30 hours per week
Study Hours Per Credit: 3 hours

Enter these values and click "Calculate Recommended Load".

Recommended Credit Load: 8

This suggests that with your 30 hours of weekly study time and high GPA goal of 3.7, a reduced load of 8 credits (typically 2-3 courses) would be most appropriate. This gives you enough time to excel in each course.

Grade Prediction Tool

Estimate what grades you need in the remaining assignments to achieve your target course grade.

๐Ÿ’ก Example: Grade Prediction

You want to know what grade you need on the remaining assignments to get an A in your course:

Current Grade: 85%
Completed Portion: 60% of course
Target Grade: 90%

Enter these values and click "Calculate Required Grade".

Required Grade on Remaining Work: 97.5%

This tells you that you need to earn 97.5% on the remaining 40% of your coursework to achieve a final grade of 90%.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is GPA calculated? +

GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated by dividing the total number of grade points earned by the total number of credit hours attempted. For each course, you multiply the course's credit hours by the grade points for the grade received (e.g., A = 4.0, B = 3.0, etc.). Then, add up all these values and divide by the total number of credit hours.

The formula is: GPA = (Total Grade Points) รท (Total Credit Hours)

How is a course grade calculated with weighted categories? +

Course grades with weighted categories are calculated using these steps:

  1. Calculate the average score for each category (e.g., Homework, Quizzes, Exams).
  2. Multiply each category average by its weight percentage (e.g., Exams 50%, Homework 30%, Quizzes 20%).
  3. Add up these weighted scores to get your final grade.

For example, if you have an 85% average in Homework (30% weight), 78% in Quizzes (20% weight), and 90% in Exams (50% weight), your final grade would be: (85 ร— 0.3) + (78 ร— 0.2) + (90 ร— 0.5) = 25.5 + 15.6 + 45 = 86.1%

What grading scales does GradePoint Pro support? +

GradePoint Pro supports multiple grading scales:

  • Standard: A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0.0
  • Plus/Minus: A+ = 4.3, A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, etc.
  • Percentage: Convert percentage grades to GPA values
  • Custom: Define your own grade values to match your institution's scale

You can change your grading scale in the Settings tab.

How do I use the Final Exam Calculator? +
